As the UK's largest Fairtrade hot drinks company, CafeDirect's product range has been certified by the Soil Association, which guarantees that they have been grown organically and that the coffee was bought directly from farmers at a fair price.
Both Chester Coffee Services and CafeDirect are firm supporters of Fairtrade Fortnight. This year, it takes place from Monday 26th February until Sunday 11th March, and the aim is to promote the benefits of Fairtrade. You can participate with a 'Friends of CafeDirect Campaigner Kit' including point of sale material to increase awareness - visit their website for more details. Please contact us if you are interested in getting involved. Chester Coffee Services are pleased to announce a notable increase in sales of Fair Trade products over the past few months. Thanks to new accounts with Nottingham University, who regularly purchase Fair Trade Organic beans, and Chester Zoo's new coffee shop, we have see an increase in Fair Trade products across the board, including beans, recyclable cups, and more.
More and more people are aware of the environmental impact of modern farming methods and this is reflected in sales figures: UK sales for Fairtrade products topped £45m in 2001, growing by 50% each year. Growth in sales also confirms that customers are thoroughly enjoying the rich flavour of Cafedirect. In stocking CafeDirect, as well as supporting the Fairtrade industry you can offer your customers a choice between your existing coffee and an organic alternative - therefore maximising your sales. All of Cafedirect's
coffee is brought directly from farmer co-operatives at a price that
allows for the profitable harvest of their crop. This enables farmers
to invest in their farms and communities, and make plans for the future. Medium
roast coffee is made with 100% Arabica, and delivers a mellow, refreshing
taste with a smooth aroma, clearly balanced acidity and a hint of toasted
spice. The organic espresso pod is an individually sealed serve of ground coffee. Much more simple to prepare than loose coffee, just place the pod in the arm of the coffee machine and create a perfect cup of espresso coffee. Made with 75% Arabica and 25% Robusta, these pods are a premium blend of intensely roasted beans to give a bitter-sweet espresso with tremendous body. Also available is their loose bean coffee, a rich fusion of Arabica and Robusta.
TeaDirect have available a rich, rosy chestnut brew in a variety of formats, plus an Organic Earl Grey option, and CocoDirect offer an exquisitely rich and smooth chocolate drink.
'Fair Trade' is described by The International Federation for Alternative Trade as being a trading partnership that seeks greater equity in international trade. It offers better trading conditions to, and secures the rights of, marginalised producers. Fairtrade organisations are engaged actively in supporting producers, awareness raising and in campaigning for changes in the rules and practice of conventional international trade. Every company which bears the Fair Trade Mark guarantees the customer that the product abides by Fair Trade standards. Organic farming methods ensure that soil quality is preserved for future generations and protect farmers from exposure to artificial fertilisers and herbicides. It makes sense to stock Fairtrade products; more and more customers are demanding this option. Your customers will be able to make a positive contribution to changing the lives of over 1 million farmers, their families and communities. To find out
