March 2005 - Chester Coffee Services are to speak at a FairTrade presentation: in Nantwich on Tuesday, April 12 to help raise awareness of the importance of FairTrade to local businesses. The evening is part of the global week of action, and will be held by the South Cheshire Friends of the Earth. The presentation will begin at 6pm with an introduction by Friends of the Earth, and then Ruth Parsons, representing the FairTrade Foundation, will speak. Howard Dodds, Chester Coffee Service's Sales Director will then discuss the supply chain, how café owners can purchase the product and the cost in comparison to non-FairTrade. Chester Coffee is also providing FairTrade coffee and tea as refreshment. Joint co-ordinator Janet Perry says: "We know that more and more people are choosing to make a difference to the lives of people in third world countries by buying FairTrade products. This event is to highlight the advantages for café and restaurant owners of supplying FairTrade, both for their businesses and for the third world." The presentation will take place at Parish Rooms (next to St Mary's Church) in Nantwich. People wishing to attend must RSVP to either Chester Coffee Services at the contact details below, or to South Cheshire Friends of the Earth at www.foesouthcheshire.co.uk The environmental campaigners are holding a further event on Saturday, April 16 in Nantwich town square where they will be displaying FairTrade products to the public.
